Questions to ask when evaluating Long Term Care Insurance:
1. Does the company have financial ratings of A+ or equivalent, Superior Rating?
2. Has the company ever had a rate increase on existing long-term care policyholders?
3. Has the company been in the long-term care business for more than 20 years?
4. Does the policy provide a Care Coordinator for home care needs? At unlimited access?
5. Does the policy start paying for home care from the first day I need care or is there an elimination period (deductible)?

The City of Lubbock’s Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program is currently taking applications. This grant is designed to assist low-income persons with energy assistance. Priority is given to the elderly, disabled, or households with children under 6, with highest energy consumption, and lowest incomes. If you or a family member is in need of assistance with replacing or repairing your air conditioner, heater, water heater or refrigerator, please contact Carmen Martinez at 775-3081 to see if you qualify. If you are in need of assistance with your gas or electric bill and you are elderly or disabled 60 years of age and older please contact Neighborhood House at 741-0459 or if you are disabled under 60 years of age call LIFE/RUN at 795-5433.
